Products/services: The Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria represents about 79,000 member enterprises with about 300,000 employees. The Chamber as public body offers a wide range of services - from technical, economic and legal advice, to comprehensive vocational and further training programmes in their own training centres. It also keeps the Crafts Register, and is responsible for holding examinations. As self-governing economic institution, it represents the interests of the skilled crafts sector in its chamber district vis-a-vis the political institutions and the public administration. To support the teenager’s first very own and big decision when choosing the right apprenticeship, the campaign “Makers wanted” (in German “Macher gesucht”) accompanies since 2008 adolescents in this phase. It offers orientation, concrete help and positions the skilled trades as a real alternative to other forms of education. Numerous national and international awards value the efforts of this campaign.
