Founded 2000, vertis Biotechnologie AG is a research-orientated company in the field of functional genomics. vertis offers innovative tools for rapid identification of candidate genes employing straightforward gene enrichment strategies. These strategies translate into reduction of redundancy when looking at whole transcriptomes or removal of non target sequences allowing to focus on the genes of relevance. Thus, the technology platform of vertis significantly reduces time and costs for downstream gene analyses. The technology is coupled with increased sensitivity enabling the analysis of the transcriptome in as few as 100 cells. The application of the technology is examined in co-operations with research institutes and industrial partners. The aim is the development of DNA-based diagnostic kits for animal and human health care, for plant breeding and plant protection as well as the genomic-based discovery of new drugs and plant protective agents. The company participates in research projects and offers its platform technology as service.
