As one of Germany’s universities with the largest amount of third-party funding and its 13,000 students, THN exerts an important influence on structural policy within the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region. Thanks to the university’s excellent contacts with the business community, THN is closely involved in regional research and development. The aim is to continue developing this collaboration with regional, national, and international partners. Alongside the faculties, competence centers, institutes and over 150 laboratories representing a high degree of innovative potential, solutions to the global societal challenges are developed. The research is carried out in ten strategic key topics: Energy, Future Cities and Buildings, Traffic Logistics and Mobility, Environment and Resources, New Materials, Media and Communication, Health, Demographic Change, Innovative Services.
