Products/services: PolyIC produces printed electronics. Printed electronics means that in a printing process electrical conducting and semi conducting plastics, so called polymers, are applied in several layers on a polyester film. The printing process is conducted in an exactly defined design so that electronic devices can be created. These devices will be integrated, for example, into a RFID (radio frequency identification) tag. Printed electronics makes low-cost RFID tags possible that can be used for mass applications. Furthermore, this new technology is also used in displays and complex systems, called smart objects. PolyIC is a joint venture between Siemens AG and LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co. KG and is located in Fuerth, Bavaria (Germany). PolyIC GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2003 and plans to sell first products made of printed electronics in 2007. PolyIC produces printed electronics. Profile/competences

Core competencies

Printed electronics as a platform technology creates the possibility of realizing various electronic products. From this abundance of possible applications, PolyIC focuses on two product categories that are ideal for printed electronics. These two categories are named PolyID® and PolyLogo®.
PolyID® products permit electronic identification via radio technology (RFID).
Products in the category PolyLogo® include for example ? besides printed logic ? displays, sensors and control elements that can be combined into thin, flexible products (so-called Smart Objects).
