Products/services: Since it was founded in 1963, the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics engages in topics of modern astrophysics. Research areas at MPE range from the physics and chemistry of stars and interstellar matter, exotic objects such as neutron stars and black holes, to nearby and far away galaxies. These are pursued mainly using experimental and observational methods that span almost the complete electromagnetic spectrum.
